AUTUMN

September is gone and the weather gets colder. It is a beautiful part of the year - the nature is slowly preparing for winter; so do our bodies. It is a time of letting go, forgiving and focusing inward of ourselves. We can try to clear out the things that do not serve us anymore, things or old stuck emotions that we no longer need. Go inside of you, relax and breathe, meditate under a tree and also hug that tree - it will give you a nice energy for the winter. It is great to clean your house too ( don't wait until the spring cleaning). Your body is your other house - clean, dust and polish your emotions and feelings and detox your body.

When the weather is cold it is the time to enjoy being inside by the fire, sipping warm beverages and having beautiful conversations with friends over a good meal.

Foods in Autumn

In the Autumn we say good-bye to salads and raw fruits of summer and we pay our attention to warm foods in season like root vegetables - carrots, butternut squash, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, also apples, pears, licorice root and more.

We use spices such as turmeric and cinnamon.

Cinnamon warms your body, stimulates circulation in your body, helps to clear the mucus in the lungs, soothes the throat ( gargle with cinnamon is recommended). It is also good for the digestion.

Turmeric is another autumn superhero for improving the circulation throughout the body.

I would like to mention also honey, lemon, apple cider vinegar, nutmeg ( to calm the nerves and help with insomnia), coconut oil and ghee.

Ginger, horseradish, bone broth, soups and stews - they also are great for autumn cooking.

Avoid hot spices like cayenne or chili pepper, because they can overheat your body and dilate blood vessels in your skin. Black pepper is much better, it improves the circulation like cinnamon and turmeric.

Speaking of the circulation - if you have always cold feet, massage them with an oil ( sesame oil ), daily oil massage helps a lot!

Enjoy your warm socks and slippers, scarf around your neck, being warm and eating healthy warm foods! To a warm beautiful YOU!
